KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A historic opening weekend helped Jersey Huerta and Corban (Ore.) made an early statement, as the redshirt junior guard has been named the PrestoSports NAIA Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.

The Kent, Washington, native averaged 34.0 points per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range, and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line during Corban’s season-opening trip to Arizona.

Huerta began the week with 28 points against Benedictine Mesa (Ariz.), knocking down four three-pointers while adding six rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two blocks.

She followed with a performance for the record books in an 89-74 victory over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.). Huerta erupted for 40 points in just 29 minutes, becoming the third player in program history to reach the 40-point mark in a single game. She connected on 14-of-24 shots from the field and converted 10-of-11 free throws while helping Corban secure its first win of the season.

For the week, Huerta totaled 68 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, six steals, and two blocks while consistently creating offense for both herself and her teammates. Her ability to score at all three levels, attack the basket, and efficiently convert scoring opportunities fueled the Warriors throughout the opening weekend.

With a historic scoring performance and two outstanding all-around efforts, Huerta set the tone for Corban’s 2026-27 campaign.
