Defending National Champion Halterman Begins 2025 with Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors for Taylor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Taylor (Ind.) sophomore Jaynie Halterman picked up where she left off last season, as the defending NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Champion won the Wildcat Twilight Invitational, picking up the first NAIA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honor for the 2025 season.
Halterman won the race with a 6K time of 20:41.2 – more than a minute better than anyone else in the field – claiming the season opener in a field of 202 runners.
She also led her team to a first-place finish among 18 opponents.
Taylor, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA Women’s Cross Country Preseason Coaches’ Top 25, returns to action Sept. 26, at the Florida State Cross Country Open, in Tallahassee, Fla.
