Reese Day won at Innisbrook, her first collegiate victory, earning the Oct. 7 NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week honor.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Reese Day won the Invite at Innisbrook, last week, posting back-to-back 68s to win by one, the only golfer under par for the tournament to mark her first individual title in her collegiate career.
Wednesday, the sophomore from Dalton, Ga., was named NAIA Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Day took advantage of par 5s, going 4-under on par 5s through three rounds. She also converted 40 pars over 54 holes.
What made the win more impressive, though, was the way Day stormed back after struggling in the event’s first round. She shot 76 to open the tournament but rebounded immediately, making birdie on her first hole in the second round.
Over Day’s final 36 holes, only two more bogeys appeared on the card after four in the first round, and she made all eight of her birdies in the tournament in the final 36 holes.
The Roadrunners won the event by 10 strokes over Southeastern (Fla.), and closed their season this past Tuesday at Dalton Golf and Country Club, the site of the 2027 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship, in the NAIA Preview.
