KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Vu Hoang Anh Nguyen set Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) program records for single-round scoring and 54-hole scoring at last week’s LWU Blue Raider Invitational, topping teammate Kayla Saunders by nine shots and leading the Blue Raiders to a win in their season opener.

Lindsey Wilson shot 6-under as a team, and Nguyen got started right out of the gate, setting a new program record with her first-round 66. She opened on the back nine and made three-straight birdies at No. 16, No. 17, and No. 18, before adding three more on the fourth, fifth, and sixth holes on the front nine to shoot 66.

She birdied her third hole in the second round and got the 17th and 18th holes for a second-straight time, firing 33 on her opening nine in round two. Four consecutive birdies on holes four through seven helped Nguyen shoot 35 to close the day with a second-round 68.

Nguyen closed out a program record 54-hole 205 by shooting 71, 1-under par, in the final round, balancing three bogeys with four birdies, including another birdie at the fifth, a hole she circled in all three rounds at The Pines.

The Blue Raiders now have two wins on the season, adding a title at the Carey Collegiate earlier this week, and they’re back on the golf course Oct. 5-6, in the Roadrunner Fall Invitational, hosted by Dalton State (Ga.), at Innisbrook, on the North Course.
