ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The Seahawks of Keiser (Fla.) survive a hard-fought 1-0 battle at Orange Beach Sportsplex against Missouri Valley to advance into the national semifinals tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. CT. KU improves to 18-3-1 on the season, while MVC closes the books at 18-1-4.

The match remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams trying to find the back of the net. Keiser managed four shots, with two on target, while Missouri Valley had five shots, two of which were on goal.

The breakthrough came early in the second half when the Seahawks’ Ruby Vernon found the back of the net in the 50th minute, assisted by Lauren Riley and Lara Noe. Vernon slotted the ball into the lower left corner, securing the game-winning goal.

Keiser’s defense, led by goalkeeper Mio Tanaka, held firm against Missouri Valley’s offensive efforts. Tanaka had a strong outing between the posts in maintaining the clean sheet and making seven crucial saves. Missouri Valley’s goalkeeper, Marina Barbara Bujalance, also put together a solid performance with four saves.

Statistically, Missouri Valley outshot Keiser 13-9. However, Keiser was more efficient, with five of their shots on target. Both teams were evenly matched in terms of corner kicks, with KU taking five and MVC having three.
