KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Eastern Oregon claims the No. 1 spot in the first regular-season Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, garnering 17 of 18 first-place votes.
Teams across the country opened their season with non-conference play during the first two weeks of the season. Most of the matches took place in various tournament settings across the country.
This week’s Top 10 represents seven different conferences: Cascade Collegiate Conference, Great Plains Athletic Conference, Kansas Collegiate Conference, Crossroads League, Frontier Conference, Heart of America Athletic Conference and Mid-South Conference.
The Mountaineers opened their 2026 campaign undefeated, going 11-0 to earn their first No. 1 rank of the new year. They are one of three teams that remain undefeated in the Top 25. EOU has yet to play on its home court this season with its first home match scheduled for Sept. 11. The teams notable wins the last two weeks came from Cumberland (Tenn.), Northwestern (Iowa) and The Master’s (Calif.). Coming up in the next two weeks, Eastern Oregon will start its conference slate with Evergreen (Wash.), Northwest (Wash.), Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
The Red Raiders dropped down a spot from the preseason poll after a loss to Eastern Oregon. That loss was the only one in the team’s opening stretch as NWC logged big wins over The Master’s (Calif.), Southern Oregon, Oklahoma Wesleyan, St. Thomas (Fla.) and Missouri Baptist. In the next two weeks, Northwestern will sprinkle in some conference play against Briar Cliff and Morningside while fitting in a few more non-conference matches against Ottawa (Kan.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky,), Bethel (Kan.) and Viterbo (Wis.).
The Bulldogs are one of two teams that remained steady in their rank from the preseason poll. CUNE encountered only two losses in the first two weeks of the season against ranked opponents in Corban (Ore.) and three-time defending national champions, Indiana Wesleyan. The team also captured a win over a ranked opponent in McPherson (Kan.). Looking ahead to the next two weeks, Concordia will have one more weekend of non-conference play taking on Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Ottawa (Kan.), William Carey (Miss.) and Saint Francis (Ind.) before opening conference play against Midland (Neb.) and College of Saint Mary (Neb.).
The Warriors have book ended their first two weeks of the season with losses, while putting together a seven-match win streak in between them. That win streak included notable wins over Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), McPherson (Kan.), Concordia (Neb.), Viterbo (Wis.) and CIU (S.C.). Coming up for the Warriors as they open conference play in the next two weeks: Bushnell (Ore.), Warner Pacific (Ore.), Northwest (Wash.), Evergreen (Wash.).
McPherson has played away from home for the first two weeks of the season, suffering only two losses to Corban (Ore.) and Concordia (Neb.), while piling on six non-conference wins, including a win over receiving votes Texas Wesleyan. The team will continue non-conference play into the next two weeks facing: Doane (Neb.), Loyola (La.), Stephens (Mo.), Central Methodist (Mo.) and Central Christian (Kan.).
The Wildcats have been on the road for the first two weeks of the season. The team suffered losses to Southeastern (Fla.) and St. Thomas (Fla.) before rebounding for a six-match win streak that included a ranked win over Midland (Neb.) and RV Columbia (Mo.) before MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) handed them their third loss of the season. All of the teams losses came in five sets. IWU closed out its non-conference schedule with another ranked win over Concordia (Neb.), with the team’s first five-set win of the season. Indiana Wesleyan will open conference play over the next two weeks facing: Taylor (Ind.), Marian (Ind.) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).
The Argos suffered only one loss in the first two weeks of the season coming at the hands of Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), while UP also captured six other non-conference wins including a ranked win over Oklahoma Wesleyan. Providence will begin conference play facing the following teams over the next two weeks: Mayville State (N.D.), Carroll (Mont.), Rocky Mountain (Mont.), Montana State – Northern, Mayville State (N.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.).
The Spartans have yet to face an opponent on their home court, having played the first two weeks on the road against non-conference opponents. The team bookended those two weeks with the only two blemishes on their record against Marian (Ind.) and Northwestern (Iowa). In between those losses, MBU compiled a seven-match win streak that included ranked wins over: IU Kokomo (Ind.), Midland (Neb.), Viterbo (Wis.), Oklahoma Wesleyan and St. Thomas (Fla.). The next two weeks of the season will open conference play as Missouri Baptist will take on: Central Methodist (Mo.), Missouri Valley and William Woods (Mo.).
College of Idaho is the second of three teams that remain undefeated in the Top 25 as they move up nine spots from the preseason poll. The Yotes have played only one five-set match in the first two weeks of the season against Montana Western. At the close of August, College of Idaho boasts two ranked wins over The Master’s (Calif.). In the next two weeks the Yotes will open their conference slate with: Northwest (Wash.), Evergreen (Wash.), Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon.
The Patriots hold only one blemish on their record through the first two weeks of the season against Southeastern (Fla.). The team is currently riding a six-match win streak and carries ranked/RV wins over Texas Wesleyan, Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) and IU Kokomo (Ind.). UC will continue their non-conference slate into the next two weeks as they face: Bethel (Ind.), Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Carolina (N.C.), CIU (S.C.), Fisk (Tenn.) and Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.).
