Bernhard Koster is the NAIA Men's Golfer of the Week after two rounds under par in the Mid-South Classic.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Friends (Kan.) junior Bernhard Koster posted two rounds under par and earned a top 10 finish at the Mid-South Classic at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan., claiming the season’s first NAIA Men’s Golfer of the Week designation.
Koster opened with a first-round 69, making a bogey on his second hole of the day at No. 11 before rattling off birdies on No. 15, No. 16, No. 2 and No. 4. In the second round, he made four birdies in his opening nine holes and added an eagle late in the round, and in the final round, ohe closed with three birdies at No. 16, No. 17, and No. 18 to shoot 71.
The Pretoria, South Africa native helped No. 2 Friends finish second. A returning All-American and All-Tournament performer in last year’s NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship, Koster was 3-under par for the event (213).
Koster and the Falcons travel to Le Mars, Iowa, Sept. 15-16, for the Northwest Iowa Invitational at Willow Creek Golf Course.
Note: The Sept. 9 NAIA Men’s Golfer of the Week award is the first of 14 men’s golf regular-season recognitions in the 2026-27 season, ending April 14. The NAIA Women’s Golfer of the Week award begins next week, on Sept. 16, with 14 awards that end on April 21.
