KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jakob Hendrickson of Truett McConnell (Ga.) has been named the PrestoSports NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Bears post two shutouts in a pair of wins.
Hendrickson made 13 saves across two matches, stopping all seven shots he faced in a 7-0 win at Bryan (Tenn.) before making six saves in a 2-0 victory over Milligan (Tenn.).
The Milligan match provided Hendrickson’s biggest test of the week. Truett McConnell played a man down for the final 55 minutes, but Hendrickson kept Milligan off the scoreboard while making all six of his saves to preserve the shutout.
The two clean sheets gave the Bears consecutive shutouts and improved their record to 7-1-2 overall, and 3-0-1 in conference play.
Hendrickson will look to defend his streak of games without conceding as the Bears travel to Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday, Oct. 10.
