KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Bellevue’s Adam Sherwood has been named the PrestoSports NAIA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring seven goals in two victories, including the game-winning goal in each contest.
Sherwood opened the week with a four-goal outing in the Bruins’ 5-1 win over Hastings (Neb.). He scored twice in each half, with his first-half goals coming just nine seconds apart and his second-half goals separated by 94 seconds. The four-goal outing was Bellevue’s first since 2021 and just the fifth in program history.
The senior continued his scoring run in a 5-0 win over Hesston (Kan.). He scored in the ninth minute of the match before adding goals in the 22nd and 70th minutes to record his second-consecutive hat trick. Sherwood became just the second player in program history to post back-to-back hat tricks, joining head coach Mark Heath-Preston, who accomplished the feat in September 2008.
For the week, Sherwood converted seven of nine shots and put eight on target, finishing with 14 points and two game-winning goals.
The England native has recorded 12 goals and 25 points on the season, both of which lead the Continental Athletic Conference. His goal total ranks sixth nationally, while his total points rank ninth.
The Bruins have won six straight matches and return to action Wednesday, Oct. 7, hosting McPherson (Kan.) at 5:30 p.m. at the Renner Dennis Outdoor Athletic Complex.
