KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mallori Grey provided the foundation for a 2-0 week on the back line for Southeastern (Fla.), earning PrestoSports NAIA Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week honors.

The senior libero/defensive specialist was a force in the Fire’s two straight-set victories, piling up 48 digs in just six sets while averaging an astounding 8.0 digs per set. Grey recorded more than 20 digs in each match and spearheaded a defensive effort that helped Southeastern secure a perfect 2-0 week.

Grey opened the week with 23 digs in a sweep of New College of Florida, averaging 7.67 digs per set while also contributing five assists and a service ace. Despite facing consistent pressure in serve receive, she anchored the back row and helped the Fire maintain control throughout the match.

She was even better in Southeastern’s sweep of Ave Maria (Fla.), tallying a match-high 25 digs while adding four service aces and three assists. Her 8.33 digs-per-set average in the contest highlighted her ability to extend rallies and keep the Fire offense in system throughout the victory.

In addition to her defensive excellence, Grey added eight assists, five service aces, and posted an .864 reception percentage during the week. Her consistency in serve receive and ability to turn difficult attacks into playable balls were key factors in Southeastern’s success.

With Grey leading the defense, the Fire completed a pair of sweeps and limited opponents’ opportunities to generate offensive momentum.
