Suspended First Round of 2026 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship to Resume Wednesday Morning in Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Inclement weather forced the suspension of play Tuesday during the first round of the 2026 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship at Eagle Crest Golf Club.

When play was halted, Yunyi Luo, from SCAD Savannah (Ga.), held the individual lead at 3-under par through 10 holes. Luo carded birdies on holes No. 6, No. 9, and No. 10 to move to the top of the leaderboard before play was suspended.

British Columbia’s Katherine Hao was one of 15 players – from Marian (Ind.), Indiana Wesleyan, Texas Wesleyan, Dalton State (Ga.), UBC, and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) – to complete the first round on Tuesday and finished the day at even par. Jia Kataria of Dalton State was also even par when play was suspended, with one hole remaining in her first round, one of 72 players that remained on the course when play was stopped. The remaining 84 players are scheduled to begin their championship Wednesday morning when play resumes. 

Due to the delay, the championship has been shortened to a 54-hole event. The second round is scheduled to begin Thursday morning. Following 36 holes of competition, the field will be reduced to the top 15 teams, plus ties, along with the top six individuals not on an advancing team, plus ties, for the final round of play Friday.
