KANSAS CITY, Mo. – IU Kokomo (Ind.) junior Sydney Duncan has been named the NAIA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after a standout performance at the Crossroads of America Invitational in Indianapolis.

Duncan delivered her headline result in the shot put on Jan. 24, winning the event with a season-best throw of 16.37 meters. Competing in a field of 29 athletes, she finished first and topped a group that included 27 non-NAIA competitors. The winning mark not only secured the invitational title, but also strengthened her position at the top of both the conference and national leaderboards.

She backed up that victory with a strong showing in the weight throw the day prior, placing ninth on Jan. 23 with a mark of 16.67 meters in a 30-athlete field. Duncan’s finish came against significant non-NAIA competitors, as she outperformed 16 DI throwers and earned recognition as the second-highest NAIA performer in the competition.
