KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has signed a three-year partnership with DegreeSight as the Official Championship Credit Evaluation Platform of the NAIA. Under the partnership, the company’s platform can be used by NAIA institutions to analyze incoming students’ high school transcripts.
The partnership between the NAIA and DegreeSight will help small colleges evaluate transcripts in a fraction of the time, leveling the playing field against schools with greater resources, and supporting the enrollment process for NAIA institutions. The platform analyzes high school transcripts and matches coursework against institutional rules, returning a credit decision in minutes instead of weeks.
“Small colleges compete for the same students as everyone else, with a fraction of the staff,” said Jay Fedje, vice president of partnerships at DegreeSight. “When a prospective athlete cannot get a straight answer about their credit, they go somewhere that gives them one. This partnership puts that answer in front of students at NAIA schools before they apply.”
A platform like DegreeSight can shape the decision of which school students choose to attend. The benefits include automated evaluation of credits from varying institutions, military training, prior college credit, and sometimes international records. Registrars will still have final say over all decision making.
“Our partnership with DegreeSight was created with the intention of helping our institutions evaluate credit in a timely manner while maintaining academic integrity,” said NAIA President and CEO, Jim Carr. “DegreeSight’s expedited capabilities help student-athletes make informed decisions, support admissions staff, and level the playing fields for small colleges.”
This partnership runs through August 2029.
