Dalton State's Sara Burger Repeats as NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sara Burger of Dalton State (Ga.) continued her dominant fall campaign on the green, earning NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week for the second consecutive week after claiming first place at the Invite at Innisbrook.

Burger carded rounds of 65-71-71 to finish at 6-under and claim a four-stroke victory over teammate Jia Kataria in a strong 78-player field. Her opening-round 65 set the tone for the tournament and was one of the lowest rounds recorded in the event's history.

The junior led the field in par-3 scoring and ranked among the top three in both par-4 and par-5 scoring. She also tallied 11 birdies, second-most in the tournament, and recorded the third-highest total of pars with 38.

Her steady play anchored another strong showing for the Roadrunners in the 14-team field, as they captured the team title.

#6 Dalton State will be on the course again on October 20-21 when they host the Roadrunner Women's Fall Invitational at Dalton Golf & Country Club

NAIA Women’s Golfers of the Week are named weekly, on Wednesdays at NAIA.org, through Oct. 22. The award breaks for the winter and returns March 4, weekly, through April 22.
